IDAHO SAMBOREE

The Samboree took place at the Eastern Idaho Fairgrounds in Blackfoot. The theme of the event was "MAKING MEMORIES". Blackfoot is known as the "Potato Capital of the World" and the site of the Idaho Potato Museum. All attendees had electrical hookups and some had water as well.

The Eastern Idaho State Fair operates between Labor Day weekend and the following weekend.


At the opening ceremonies, Halle Beck thanked us for the support we extended to her family last time we were here in Eastern Idaho. Halle had been in a horrific automobile accident and her family was told to expect the worst. Halle survived and is attending college now.

The tractor rodeo is now a tradition at the Idaho Samboree. Darrell and Judy are preparing to demonstrate their tractor skills.

There were several seminar presentations at the Samboree. This one, put on by Camping World, discussed "RVing with Satellites".

Jerry and Marilyn Collins gave a seminar on SkyMed, a medical evacuation service.

Rick Pearrow gave a very informative presentation on the subject of "Internet and Computer Security for RV Travelers".

Marilynn Harris, a member of Time To Travel Sams and popular Idaho author, sold many of her books.

Parking area on the north side of the fairgrounds.

Sights like this, of attendees getting together for happy hour / pot-luck / etc., could be found all around the fairgrounds.

Ron McFadden explained the rules for Bean-Bag-Baseball to contestant teams.

We were pleased to see so many visitors from other states and provinces. This is the Nevada contingent.

Jim and Mary Allen once again sponsored and organized a Dutch Oven Cookoff.

Those gathering for the dutch oven cookoff could also watch horses in training on the track beside the cooking area.

Director Joyce Barcus was given the "Miracle Maker Award" by Dogs for Better Lives. Dick Deutsche made the presentation.


A "make-up" team from Northern Idaho won the bean-bag-baseball tournament. In reality, most of the team was from Southern Idaho and Nevada.

Saturday night's entertainment was provided by the JazzHouse Big Band.

The flag was lowered for the last time before the very solemn Flag Burning Ceremony.
